prepare your child for preschool

Preschool is the second unit of socialization after the family. When a child enters preschool, he or she faces a delicate transition. Everyone involved in their lives needs to facilitate this transition so that it is as smooth as possible. The role of parents becomes especially important because they know their children better than anyone else. So, as parents, here are some of the issues that preschoolers face when starting out and how you can prepare your little one for this first step of a lifelong journey.

Dealing with separation anxiety

It is a given that your baby will experience separation anxiety in the first few weeks, which may not subside during the first few months. Start by talking to your child in advance about this. In fact, if you are a parent who is used to spending all day with your child, leave him or her with a trusted person for a few hours each day in the run-up to preschool, so your child gets used to being away from you.

Communicate effectively while you are in preschool
Language can be one of the barriers to socialization. If your child is not familiar with the language that everyone in the class speaks (not necessarily English, even if the language of instruction is English), it will end up making your child feel isolated. Try to communicate with your child in other languages if possible

Having a fixed routine
Your child may not be used to a consistent routine. But once school starts, they will have to follow a routine that starts with waking up at a set time, eating meals at a set hour, and going to bed at a regular time.

Toilet training
This may seem obvious, but it is an important part of early school life. Your child should be able to tell the adults around him that he wants to go to the bathroom so that they do not soil themselves. A few instances of this may occur, but this should not become a regular trait, as it will hinder your child from adjusting.

We can prepare ourselves and our children for what is to come, as the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Leave the rest to the teachers and trained staff. Preschools like Aptech International Preschool create a smart, safe, and stimulating environment for your child.
